The Barracks, Cannon Hill

On the cutting edge of design, this energy efficient master planned community delivers to inner city Brisbane the distinct Queensland style of open plan living. Barracks is a large format unit and town house residential and mixed use development built in Cannon Hill, Brisbane for Anthony John Group.

The site is comprised of a mix of Class One and Class Two buildings over two storeys. The site also had a central facilities block and recreational area. Efficient and cost effective design solutions were implemented to overcome some challenging existing site conditions. These included the removal of approximately 5000m³ of highly reactive soils and existing materials, and reinstating and compacting inert material to cap the site. High level project management, co-ordination and heavy site resourcing was required to deliver the project within a tight 12 month program. The construction methods included raft slabs, load-bearing masonry, suspended concrete slab and a combination of masonry and light weight upper floors. The Barracks project successfully demonstrates Blackwatch Project’s design, construction and project management capabilities to deliver on time and on budget.
